Ash Wednesday is the first day of Lent. In Louisiana, the last day before Lent, Mardi Gras has become a last fling before the solemnity of Lent. For 40 days (except Sunday), it was customary to fast and give themselves to God. In other words Christian people will imitate Jesus' withdrawal into the wilderness for forty day.
Lent 2009 will be my first Lent in the USA. During the prayer session in church, I was thinking of my family in Kuching. Probably, they have ikan terubuk for the night dinner after Ash Wednesday mass. Three years to go I will be with my family again..celebrate the Lent season together with all family members........
A Holy cross on my forehead...
